Ciolacu a luat 1.600.000.000 lei din fondul de rezervă ca să crească pensiile. Ciucă a procedat la fel • Newsweek România

The Romanian government, led by Ciolacu, has withdrawn 1.6 billion lei from the reserve fund to increase pensions, similar to actions taken by Ciucă's administration. A report from the Court of Accounts indicates that this fund, meant for emergencies, was used despite the absence of urgent situations. The new pension law, effective September 1, 2024, resulted in an average increase of 520 lei for 3.8 million pensions, while 800,000 pensions remained unchanged. Previous governments also utilized the reserve fund for pension payments in 2022 and 2023, raising concerns about the appropriateness of these withdrawals.
