Sorin Ionescu, a history teacher and director of Colegiul Național Bănățean, is proposed by PSD for the newly created position of Minister Delegate for Pre-University Education. He has been a member of PSD Timișoara since 2000 and previously served as deputy general inspector of the Timiș School Inspectorate. Ionescu was also a local councilor and aimed to run for the Timișoara mayoralty. The specific responsibilities of the new ministerial role remain unclear, particularly regarding the division of duties with the Minister of Education. This position is one of two new roles in the Luca Niculescu government, alongside a Minister Delegate for Communications and Artificial Intelligence.
