Dan Neculăescu has been nominated by Prime Minister Luca Niculescu for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is currently Romania's ambassador to NATO, a role he has held since February 2022. Neculăescu has a long diplomatic career, having served in various capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2002. His previous roles include Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs and Deputy Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency. He has contributed to NATO summit preparations and has been involved in Romania's strategic partnerships. Neculăescu holds degrees in Political Science and Law and has received several national and international honors.
