Cristela Georgescu, wife of pro-Russian politician Călin Georgescu, gave an interview to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, spreading false claims about her husband's legal troubles. She alleged that he was arrested for advocating peace and mentioned a supposed dictatorship in Romania, ignoring the actual legal context of his case. Jones supported her claims, making controversial comparisons and promoting conspiracy theories. The interview included multiple falsehoods regarding Georgescu's alleged antisemitism and the nature of his arrest, which is linked to a fraud investigation. Jones, known for his history of spreading conspiracy theories, has faced significant legal repercussions for his actions, including a massive financial judgment related to false claims about the Sandy Hook tragedy.
