Lungu gained public attention in 2023 due to a corruption investigation involving the mayor of Sector 3, Robert Negoiță, related to unauthorized building height increases. The investigation revealed irregularities in the authorization process for a residential block on Matei Basarab Street, which was built without proper legal clearance. Despite ongoing investigations by the DNA since 2022, including searches at the mayor's office, the case remains unresolved after three years, with no indictment yet issued.
