In August 2026, Romania's average net salary decreased by 2.3% compared to July, with significant declines in the automotive industry. However, the gambling sector saw the highest salary increase. The average gross salary was 9,497 lei, while the net salary fell to 5,688 lei. The IT sector reported the highest earnings, with net salaries reaching 13,010 lei. The decline in salaries was attributed to previous bonuses and lower economic activity during vacation periods. Despite the monthly drop, salaries are still 5.6% higher than in August 2025, although real salary indices have decreased due to inflation.
