The TollRo system, mandatory from October 1, 2026, faced technical issues on launch day, preventing access for drivers. Developed by Vodafone Romania for over 44 million euros, it replaces the fixed toll system with a distance-based fee. The platform's implementation has been delayed, with ongoing issues related to user access and payment processing. A separate contract for physical control infrastructure is currently stalled due to contestations. Despite these challenges, the system is partially operational, and the previous rovinieta system has been integrated into the new platform.
