Five elderly residents died in a nursing home in southern Portugal due to an outbreak of influenza A, according to local health authorities. The Central Alentejo Local Health Unit reported that nine patients were admitted to emergency services, with three fatalities confirmed. Laboratory tests identified the virus in two of the deceased. Following the outbreak, health officials conducted an epidemiological investigation at the nursing home, ensuring compliance with infection control measures. The General Prosecutor's Office of Portugal has opened an investigation into the deaths.
