Romania conducted a medical evacuation operation from Gaza, successfully transporting five sick children and their family members. A total of 20 individuals were evacuated on August 31, 2026, as part of a humanitarian mission coordinated by various Romanian ministries and supported by the EU's Civil Protection Mechanism. The operation utilized a C-130 Hercules aircraft and included a SMURD medical team to assist patients during transit. Upon arrival in Bucharest, two children will receive treatment in Romania, while three will be transferred to Belgium for further care. Romania remains committed to supporting civilians affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
