Cimitir de rechini preistorici, descoperit în Egipt

A recent study reveals that a tropical sea in Upper Cretaceous Egypt hosted a diverse shark community, adding five new species to the region's history. The research, published in Cretaceous Research, highlights the discovery of fossils in a phosphate-rich area, indicating a rich marine ecosystem. The team identified seven shark species, including two previously unreported in Egypt. The findings suggest a nutrient-rich environment supporting a complex food web, although the phosphate bed may contain mixed remains from various habitats.
