Chirurg și fost manager al spitalului din Craiova, condamnat la doi ani și jumătate de închisoare după o intervenție care a cauzat moartea pacientului

Surgeon Alin Dragoș Demetrian was sentenced to two and a half years in prison with suspension for causing a patient's death during surgery in 2019. The court upheld the initial ruling and increased the moral damages to 150,000 euros for the victim's family. The decision concluded a lengthy legal process following the incident where the patient suffered a massive hemorrhage due to a surgical error. Demetrian is also prohibited from practicing thoracic surgery for four years. The patient, Dorin Barbu, died after complications from the procedure meant to diagnose a tumor.
