A surgeon from the Regional Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Cluj-Napoca has been arrested for bribery, accused of soliciting money from patients for surgeries. Prosecutors initiated criminal proceedings against him for multiple bribery offenses, documenting various instances where he accepted bribes from patients, including cash and meals. The surgeon allegedly received significant sums, including 3,000 lei from a patient's husband and 500 euros for a surgical procedure. Prosecutors emphasized that his actions reflect a serious breach of medical ethics and contribute to corruption in the healthcare system. The court has ordered his preventive detention for 30 days.
