China plans to send seven cargo ships to Europe via the Arctic route, marking a shift towards regular shipping services. Rosatom has issued permits for these vessels, with Sea Legend Shipping aiming to establish a weekly service by 2026. This development is seen as part of Russia's efforts to enhance the Northern Sea Route as a global transport artery, especially amid rising geopolitical tensions. Previous attempts at Arctic shipping were largely experimental, but recent successful voyages indicate a growing interest in this route for faster maritime connections to Europe.
