The invitation came from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, who smiled while extending the offer. Zacharia shared her thoughts on fears in the U.S. about China surpassing America as a global power, recalling her disbelief at the idea given her experiences in China. Recently appointed by Donald Trump, Zacharia has faced criticism regarding her qualifications as a lawyer. She may join the U.S. delegation for an upcoming summit in China.
