In August, China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached a record 60.6% of total new car sales, with production and sales of NEVs at 1.65 million and 1.64 million units respectively. Total vehicle production and sales were 2.68 million and 2.71 million units, showing nearly 20% annual growth. Exports of vehicles also surged, reaching 1.01 million units, a 65.3% increase year-on-year, with NEV exports rising 130% to 526,000 units. In the first eight months of the year, vehicle exports grew by 66.7% to 7.15 million units, with NEVs accounting for over half of total exports. Rising oil prices have increased global demand for NEVs, as China aims for 30% of its vehicle fleet to be NEVs by 2030.
