China devine un competitor redutabil și pe piața de carne de pui
China has become a net exporter of chicken, significantly increasing its global market presence and impacting foreign producers. In 2022, exports reached $2.6 billion, nearly double from 2020. This shift is causing disruptions in the global meat market, as cheaper Chinese poultry competes with traditional suppliers from Europe and the Americas. The European Commission has initiated investigations into potential unfair competition from Chinese imports. Meanwhile, domestic demand for pork in China has declined, leading to financial struggles for local farmers. The Chinese government is promoting large-scale production of meat and dairy through subsidies, aiming to enhance food security and recover livestock numbers post-epidemics. As Chinese producers expand internationally, they are gaining market share at the expense of established players, raising concerns in Europe about food safety and labeling standards.
