China has approved the world's first standard for brain-computer interface (BCI) medical devices using AI technology, set to take effect on September 1, 2027. This regulation aims to establish a unified quality benchmark for EEG data across the industry. It outlines technical requirements and testing methods for data management in BCI devices, addressing common issues like the lack of standardized quality control. The National Medical Products Administration emphasizes that BCI devices can interpret brain signals, enhancing treatment outcomes and patient safety. The new standard is expected to facilitate the integration of BCI technologies into clinical practice, overcoming current barriers to commercialization.
