China anunță un nou record în infrastructură: tunel de mare viteză construit sub fluviul Yangtze pentru trenuri de 350 km/h

China has completed the excavation of a continuous segment of a high-speed railway tunnel under the Yangtze River, marking a significant engineering achievement. The tunnel, part of a future high-speed rail line, will allow crossing the river in just two minutes. The project utilized the 'Linghang' boring machine, which excavated an underwater section of 11.3 kilometers, setting a record for its size. The Chongtai tunnel is expected to be finished by the end of the year and will connect Chongming Island to Taicang. Designed for trains traveling at 350 km/h, it will be the fastest underwater railway tunnel globally. The investment for the tunnel is estimated at over 7.1 billion yuan, part of a larger high-speed rail line linking major industrial centers in China.
