ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox are now classified as high-risk digital services in the EU, requiring them to implement stricter measures against illegal content and risks to minors. This classification applies to Romania as well, as these platforms exceed 45 million active users in the EU. They must address systemic risks, especially regarding minors, and clarify their content moderation and recommendation systems. The companies have until January 2027 to comply with these new obligations, which include annual independent audits and providing access to data for authorized researchers. Users in Romania will see clearer controls and protections, but the platforms will not change overnight.
