CFR Cluj started their Romanian Cup group stage with a victory against Sepsi OSK, winning 3-1 away. The team secured their third consecutive win in all competitions. Adrian Păun opened the scoring early, followed by Andres Șfaiț doubling the lead shortly after halftime. Sepsi managed to score once through Davordzie, but Meriton Korenica sealed the match for CFR. Coach Marius Șumudică rested several key players, while Sepsi fielded many substitutes. In another match, Concordia Chiajna defeated Progresul Spartac 5-2, and FC Bihor drew 2-2 with Corona Brașov.
