Cezar Crețu secured the first point for Romania in the Davis Cup World Group II match against Indonesia by defeating Gunawan Trismuwantara in Jakarta. Crețu, ranked 271st in ATP, won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, after 1 hour and 37 minutes of play. He had a strong performance, winning 63% of his first serve points and converting three out of five break points. Romania now leads the tie 1-0, with Radu Papoe set to compete next against Rafalentino Ali Da Costa. The doubles match is scheduled for Saturday, followed by two cross singles matches.
