Cetățile medievale, între restaurări spectaculoase și controverse. „Castelul din Carpați” printre puținele fortărețe neatinse de secole
Recent restoration projects of medieval fortresses in Romania have sparked debates due to their modernized appearances. The Deva Fortress underwent a decade-long renovation, funded by EU grants, transforming it into a more commercial space with modern amenities. Critics argue that these changes detract from the historical essence of the sites. Other fortifications, like the Mălăiești and Severin Citadels, faced backlash for their contemporary designs, which some consider inappropriate for historical monuments. In contrast, the Colț Fortress has remained largely untouched, preserving its romantic ruin aesthetic, attracting visitors without significant restoration efforts.
