Cetățenii din America Latină percep China mai prietenoasă decât SUA
A recent survey indicates that Latin Americans view China's influence more positively than that of the United States for the first time since 1995. The proportion of respondents who see China's impact as favorable rose from 48% to 65%, while the U.S. dropped from 60% to 57%. Marta Lagos, director of Latinobarometro, noted that China has gained favor by providing cheaper imported goods. Despite this shift, 63% still hold a favorable opinion of the U.S., compared to 58% for China. The negative perception of former President Trump has affected the U.S.'s image in the region, especially after a significant drop in favorability since 2024. The Trump administration aims to counter China's influence in Latin America, particularly in Venezuela, through initiatives like the "Shield of the Americas." However, positive views of China remain high even in countries allied with the U.S., such as Ecuador and Argentina.
