Nuclearelectrica's technical director, Emil Macovei, stated that there is insufficient water to operate even one of the two reactors. The Ministry of Energy has no confirmed date for the plant's reopening, as the Danube's flow remains low. Both reactors were shut down due to historic low water levels, impacting energy supply. The government has a three-phase intervention plan if water levels drop further, including using barges and pumps to ensure cooling. Romania aims to increase renewable energy capacity significantly by 2030.
