The Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant is at risk of shutting down due to low water levels in the Danube, now just one centimeter above the critical threshold. Minister Diana Buzoianu stated that recent interventions to increase water flow have not been effective, as obstacles have redirected the water. The current level is -229 cm, with the minimum required being -230 cm. Ongoing dredging efforts aim to maintain operations, but the situation remains precarious. The Romanian government has allocated funds for urgent dredging to ensure safe water levels for the plant's operation, with significant increases in water flow expected only after late August.
