Cercetătorii deschid o nouă frontieră în fizică: Au apărut primele dovezi experimentale ale unui nou tip de magnetism

An international team of physicists has provided experimental evidence for altermagnetism, a recently identified form of magnetism. They demonstrated this phenomenon in a layered material, Co₁/₄TaSe₂, composed of cobalt, tantalum, and selenium. The findings, published in Nature Communications, could lead to advancements in spintronics, ultrafast memory, terahertz networks, and energy-efficient electronics. Altermagnetism combines advantages of ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, allowing for the separation of electrons based on their spin without generating unwanted magnetic fields. This discovery may significantly impact future technology, particularly in devices requiring small size, speed, and energy efficiency.
