Cercetătorii au descoperit o nouă cauză a hipertensiunii arteriale

A recent study reveals a neurogenic cause of hypertension linked to the lateral parafacial region of the brain, suggesting new treatment avenues. Researchers found that this brain area can trigger biological changes leading to increased blood pressure. They activated neurons in this region in rats, discovering that it not only controls breathing but also narrows blood vessels, contributing to hypertension. This finding explains why some patients struggle to manage their blood pressure despite medication. The study proposes targeting carotid bodies to develop safer therapies, with promising results from initial tests using vitamin B6 derivatives. Further clinical trials are needed to validate these findings.
