Cercetătorii au descoperit că 180.000 de țestoase gigantice trăiesc pe o insulă din Oceanul Indian

Researchers have found that approximately 180,000 giant tortoises inhabit Aldabra Atoll, significantly outnumbering the human population in Seychelles. This marks a remarkable recovery for a species once endangered, following decades of conservation efforts. The study, conducted by the Seychelles Islands Foundation and the University of Exeter, is the first update since the late 1990s, when the population was estimated at 100,000. Aldabra is one of only two places globally where giant tortoises live freely, with a smaller population in the Galápagos Islands.
