Cercetătorii au aflat de ce câinii mari trăiesc mai puțin decât cei de talie mică

Researchers have discovered that larger dog breeds age faster at the molecular level, leading to shorter lifespans compared to smaller breeds. This study analyzed DNA methylation patterns in 894 dogs, revealing that large dogs show accelerated signs of aging. The findings suggest that the rapid aging process in larger breeds may be linked to the activation of 'jumping genes' in their genomes, which can lead to health issues. The results indicate that artificial selection for size may contribute to this phenomenon, as larger dogs are bred for specific tasks, potentially impacting their longevity.
