Cercetător român de la Princeton, în avangarda materialelor care pot extrage apă din atmosferă

Romanian chemist Mircea Dincă, a professor at Princeton, is developing materials for energy storage and atmospheric water capture, even in low humidity. His research focuses on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which have a vast internal surface area due to their crystalline structure. One of his studies highlights a MOF called Mg-SU-102, capable of capturing water at a relative humidity of just 4.3%. Dincă's team is also working on conductive MOFs for energy storage applications, achieving over 90% capacity retention after 10,000 charge-discharge cycles. Dincă, who has a background from Făgăraș, Princeton, and MIT, is contributing to a field recognized with the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for its potential in various applications.
