Due to low water levels in the Danube, Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant may face a complete shutdown soon. Prime Minister Péter Magyar confirmed that energy supply remains stable for both households and businesses. However, the nuclear units must be continuously shut down, leading to a significant power loss of 2,000 megawatts, which can be compensated through imports. Additionally, a malfunction at a nearby power plant has caused a further reduction of 400 megawatts. Magyar plans to visit Paks to assess the situation and discuss crisis management strategies if energy demand exceeds supply.
