Authorities cannot predict when the reactor will restart, as forecasts indicate further declines in water levels. Energy Secretary Cristian Bușoi assured that the shutdown will not impact household electricity supply or essential services. The plant typically contributes about 20% of Romania's electricity, and the situation has been exacerbated by high temperatures and low river flows. Measures have been taken to redirect more water to the plant, but the reactor may remain offline for at least ten days.
