Centrala Mintia a livrat primul megawatt-oră în reţeaua naţională. Va produce cu 20% mai mult decât Cernavodă

The Mintia power plant has delivered its first megawatt-hour to the national grid after five years of inactivity. With an installed capacity of approximately 1,700 MW, it exceeds the combined output of Cernavodă's two nuclear reactors by over 20%. Sold in 2022, the plant was transformed into one of Europe's largest gas facilities through a private investment of around 1.2 billion euros. Former Energy Minister Virgil Popescu emphasized the importance of this project for local energy production, particularly in western Romania, to reduce reliance on imports. The plant is currently in testing phases, with plans for full operational capacity soon.
