Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced the first ignition of gas turbine number 1 at the Mintia power plant, marking a significant milestone in Romania's energy investments. The project is over 80% complete, with further tests and synchronization with the national grid to follow. The two gas turbines will provide approximately 1,100 MW, contributing to a total capacity of around 1,700 MW after the combined cycle is completed. This development aims to enhance domestic energy production, reduce imports, and improve energy security, especially during peak demand periods. Bolojan expressed gratitude to all involved in the project and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration for timely completion.
