Centrala de la Cernavodă rămâne închisă

The Cernavodă nuclear plant will not restart in the next ten days due to insufficient water levels in the Danube. Authorities are unable to predict when at least one reactor will resume operations, as forecasts for increased water flow remain cautious. The low water levels have led to the shutdown of both reactors, which previously supplied about 20% of dispatchable energy. Efforts are underway to expedite reopening through dredging works, but no specific date has been set. Meanwhile, Romania aims to increase its solar and wind energy capacity significantly by 2030, with investments in storage systems also planned.
