The ALLO Trial aims to assess the effectiveness of stored stem cells in protecting the brains of at-risk newborns. Previous studies indicated that using a baby's own stem cells is feasible and safe, reducing brain injury risks. This new phase explores using banked umbilical blood when personal cells are unavailable. Stem cells have anti-inflammatory properties that may protect developing brain tissue. If successful, this therapy could set a new standard for premature infant care.
