Cel mai vechi hostel pentru tineri din România se închide, după 25 de ani de activitate: Chiria a crescut de aproape nouă ori
The Burg-Hostel in Sighisoara, Romania's oldest private youth hostel, is closing due to a nearly ninefold rent increase. The president of the Educational Center for Interethnic Youth Sighisoara announced the closure, emphasizing the hostel's role in promoting social values and community. Despite the closure, the spirit of youth hostelling and social work will continue in a new form. The hostel, established in 2001, was not just a place to stay but a hub for cultural exchange and understanding. It aimed to provide affordable travel opportunities and foster connections beyond social and ethnic boundaries. The closure comes just before the ProEtnica Intercultural Festival, which the hostel has supported.
