The Transfagarasan road attracts tourists with its stunning mountain landscapes, occasional bear sightings, and unique attractions like Balea Lake and Balea Waterfall. Despite fewer bear appearances recently, visitors can enjoy various natural wonders and historical sites along the route. Built in the 1970s, the road reaches an altitude of 2,042 meters and features a glacier lake and one of Romania's highest waterfalls. The area is rich in history, with nearby Poenari Fortress linked to Vlad the Impaler and Curtea de Arges Monastery known for its royal significance.
