A recent study identifies Australia as the most resilient country in the face of global catastrophic threats, due to its geographic position, food production capacity, and strong internal industry. Researchers analyzed various risks, including nuclear war and pandemics, categorizing them into three main types. Australia meets many resilience criteria, such as stable institutions and a strong economy, but its isolation also presents vulnerabilities. Other relatively resilient countries include New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland, and Argentina, though none are completely safe from all risks. The study concludes that while Australia is the most resilient, no place on Earth is entirely secure from global disasters.
