Cel mai mare stadion din lume a fost construit acum 2.000 de ani. Putea găzdui peste 250.000 de spectatori • Newsweek România

Circus Maximus, built over 2,000 years ago, was the largest stadium in the world, hosting around 250,000 spectators for chariot races. Located in Rome, it played a significant role in the city's cultural and social life, hosting various public games and events. The stadium underwent several expansions, notably by Julius Caesar, and was a site of both entertainment and tragedy, including a major fire in 64 AD. Although it fell into disuse by the 5th century, the site has been transformed into an archaeological park and continues to host public events today.
