The tunnels on the Margina - Holdea section of the A1 Lugoj - Deva highway have been fully pierced, with physical work progress exceeding 75%. This marks a significant milestone in the project aimed at eliminating the current interruption on the highway. The second tunnel features two galleries, making it the longest highway tunnel in Romania. Construction involved around 900 workers over two years, and the next steps include interior work and safety installations. The section is expected to allow uninterrupted traffic by mid-2027, pending successful safety equipment tests.
