The Margina–Holdea section of the A1 highway has seen significant progress, with tunnel construction completed and over 75% of the project finished. Tunnel 2, the longest highway tunnel in Romania, spans nearly two kilometers. The excavation phase has concluded, marking a key milestone for the project, which aims to improve connectivity between Lugoj and Deva. Ongoing work includes finalizing concrete lining and installing safety systems. Completion is expected by the end of 2026, with traffic anticipated to start in early 2027, allowing uninterrupted travel across 360 kilometers of highway.
