Cel mai bătrân profesor din România încă predă la 89 de ani. Ministrul Dimian: "Vârsta e mai puţin importantă"

In Romania, over 6,000 teachers have surpassed retirement age, with the oldest being 89. Education Minister Mihai Dimian emphasizes that passion and preparation are more important than age. He believes that experienced teachers can still contribute significantly, and the legal retirement age allows teachers to work until 70 under certain conditions. The aging teaching workforce poses challenges, as nearly 44,000 teachers are over 55. Dimian suggests that retired teachers could be called back to address shortages, especially in technical subjects. The focus remains on ensuring a balance between experienced educators and attracting younger professionals to the field.
