The oldest pigeon in the world lived nearly 45 years, recognized by Guinness World Records. Named Sugar, this white pigeon from Chesterfield, Missouri, spent most of his life with his owner, Dewayne Orender, who considered him a best friend. Sugar's lifespan exceeded the average pigeon life by more than double, as he was born on June 23, 1981. The bond between Sugar and Dewayne was strong, with the two enjoying TV shows and music together. Sugar's health declined when Dewayne was hospitalized, but he recovered upon his owner's return. Sugar surpassed the previous record by over 15 years, and Dewayne hoped to celebrate his 50th birthday with a special party. Sadly, Sugar passed away on Easter Sunday in 2026, leaving a lasting legacy as the oldest captive pigeon.
