Farmers Ion and Constantin Zgaiba from Dolj achieved a record wheat yield of 10.285 tons per hectare in 2026, the highest in the country. This yield is significantly above the estimated national average but slightly lower than last year's record. The Zgaiba family cultivated 152 hectares without irrigation, winning a national competition organized by the Forum of Professional Farmers and Processors in Romania. Other notable yields included 10.1 tons per hectare from SC EVI Blossom in Iași and 9.3 tons from SC Sopema SRL in Ialomița. The competition evaluated net production based on moisture standards and transparency in harvesting.
