Rompetrol Rafinare plans to develop a 4.8 MW solar power plant and a 9 MWh energy storage system at Vega Ploiești, with an investment of approximately 27 million lei. The project aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, producing over 6,200 MWh of renewable energy annually for self-consumption. The refinery, which has shifted from crude oil processing to niche production, is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by over 3,800 tons of CO2 annually. The project is set to be completed by December 31, 2028, with funding from the Modernization Fund and Rompetrol Rafinare.
