Noja Paladia, the oldest living person in Romania, celebrated her 111th birthday in Cugir. Born in 1915, she is recognized internationally for her longevity. During her birthday, the local mayor presented her with a certificate of appreciation and a symbolic monetary gift. Paladia is also the oldest woman in the Balkans and the first documented supercentenarian in Romania's history. Her lifestyle, characterized by moderation and a diet of homegrown foods, is credited for her long life. She currently lives with her 76-year-old daughter, who cares for her.
