The National Energy System (SEN) has reached a peak in wind energy production, accounting for 41.27% of total output. As of September 28, 2026, wind farms are generating 2,866 MW from an installed capacity of 3,100 MW. Solar energy follows with a contribution of 22.33%, totaling 1,551 MW. Together, renewable sources comprise over 63% of the total instantaneous production of SEN, which stands at 6,948 MW. Conventional sources like gas and coal also contribute, while nuclear reactors are offline due to insufficient cooling water. The high output of wind and solar energy has significantly lowered market prices, with a MWh costing between 9-10 euros, and much of this energy is exported, particularly to Hungary.
