An ancient city comes to life in Rome with the unveiling of a monumental fresco and an impressive mosaic, both dating back to the 1st century AD. These artworks, discovered around 30 years ago, are now accessible to the public for the first time. The fresco depicts a fortified port city, showcasing well-preserved colors and significant architectural features. The mosaic, approximately 15 meters high, features intricate details and scenes reminiscent of a theatrical performance. Public access begins this month, with limited group sizes, as specialists monitor environmental impacts before a broader opening. The site, part of Trajan's Baths, was once the largest thermal complex in the world and included cultural elements like a semicircular library.
