The antivenom was located in New York and San Diego, and the FAA allowed a flight from New York under the condition it was escorted by fighter jets. The flight successfully delivered the antivenom to Miami, saving the victim's life. The airspace remained closed for several days following the attacks, which resulted in nearly 3,000 fatalities.
